Electric City Butcher is excited to offer its most requested class, Pork 101. This hands-on overview will teach you how we source our animals, how to identify the different parts of the pig, the basics of breaking it down, and how to prepare your favorite cuts. We’ll review knife skills, seam butchery, and you'll get to cut any meat you take home.

Each student takes home 4 lbs. of pork, gets an Electric City Butcher Tool bag (boning knife, twine, handouts, coupons), and 10% off any purchases in the shop that evening. Light food and refreshments served afterward.

What do I get with the class?

This hands-on overview will teach you how to prepare, cook, and carve chicken, turkey or duck. We’ll learn and review knife skills, teach you how to truss poultry, how to quarter a bird, and we might even share a few tasty cooking tips to boot. By the end of the night, you’ll be able to tell your friends what spatchcock really means.

Join us for another first at Electric City Butcher, our Beef 102 Forequarter Workshop. Our whole animal butchers will break down a forequarter, home of the ribeye steak, using the seam butchery technique.

Because of the large, complex nature of beef butchery, this class is less hands-on than most of our 100 series courses, however, students will learn basic knife skills, practice roast-trussing, and take home some meat. As with all of our classes, each participant receives 10% off any in-store purchases, and a 10%-off coupon for their next visit.

To celebrate our evening of learning, refreshments are always served at the end of the night.

What's the refund policy?
Class registrations are non-refundable, but transferable to a different date or attendee. If you can’t make it, please let us know three days (72 hours) before the scheduled class by phone or email. For any late cancelations (after 72 hours) ECB will issue store credit in the amount of 50% of the registration fee.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Public parking is available in the Bush Avenue Parking Structure (at 4th Street) or by metered parking along 4th Street.
